When bending, the radius of the angle of inclination of the workpiece should also be taken into account. If the bending radius is close to or less than the thickness of the metal, a hollow mold must be used. When air bending, pay attention to the size of the gap between the die and the punch at the bottom of the stroke and the elastic compensation when bending by 90 degrees. The bending radius is 0.156 of the size of the V-shaped hole of the die. In the case of air bending, the size of the V-shaped opening of the die should be 8 times the thickness of the sheet. For example, The force, in this case, will be 4 times greater than when bending the air. At the bottom of the stroke, leave a gap slightly larger than the thickness of the metal sheet. In the case of air bending on a modern CNC sheet bending machine, the resulting elastic angle will be 2 degrees less.
